This sets up the entire scenario that creates the war-like atmosphere in Warzone 2100. Less than one million people survive this simple error, and they scamper into primitive bands of rogue groups in search of power, material, or any remnants to re-create the world as we once knew it. A technical error on a satellite defense system sets nuclear warheads onto major targets in Beijing, Moscow, and Washington and within minutes, millions of innocent people are turned into dust as nuclear firestorms rage across the Earth. The storyline set the scenario: Earth, 21st century. The benefit of the PlayStation's controller, with its many buttons and shoulder pads, enables the relatively easy selection and movement of vehicles, as well as deployment, construction, and attack. You have the choice of keeping your initial campaign throughout the game, too. With 24 fast-play mission maps that get players started, you can jump onto foreign or planetary terrain and get your campaign into gear. From these initial vehicles that look like dump trucks (and are essentially drones), you can research, manufacture, and deploy all kinds of offensive-based crafts tanks to roadsters to dunebuggy-style off-road attack crafts. Players will start off with a few trucks, and the basic necessities, such as headquarters and energy bases. You can create a whopping amount of units, totaling 2,000 different kinds in all. How is that possible? This game is built for the stray mind, the creative gamer who wants to do his or her own thing. In development by Pumpkin Studios, Warzone 2100 looks to beat the graphics of the best-looking Command and Conquer PlayStation iteration, and has the creative feeling that was so well demonstrated in Total Annihilation (also for the PC). In comes example A, Warzone 2100, a realtime strategy from the predominantly action- and adventure-based games publisher Eidos.
